Introduction

When Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard first introduced the 200A audio oscillator in 1939, it was a state of the art, high technology instrument which led to breakthrough innovations and opened the door to the future of silicon valley. During the subsequent decades, the equipment, and later software, that stemmed from these original products evolved in many different ways. Over time, diverse products were introduced, branching out to support an ever-increasing range of industries and applications. Accompanying the proliferation of types of test equipment the company provided were form factor evolution, adaptations to alleviate environmental concerns, as well as modifications to the look and feel of the various products.

Many of these changes happened gradually over time. Recently, however, Keysight has broken the mold in order to make some bold enhancements to the user experience, go even further in addressing environmental concerns, and to make a visual break from the past and align products with Keysight's new, sleek look and feel.

The New Look of Keysight Products

In February 2016, Keysight introduced a new product design. The new design applies leading edge materials across product families and form factors to bring the quality and craftsmanship which has always been present within products, to the exterior. Benchtop and modular instruments and components in the new design align with the Keysight color palette with charcoal gray and other gray tones, accented by Keysight's signature red, white, and black.

Another element of the new look is a change to the way that packaging is labeled for recycling. Previously, all of Keysight’s packaging was recyclable, but not all of it was clearly labeled. Going forward, all packaging will be clearly labeled in order to facilitate recycling according to respective, regional guidelines.

Product Families and Roll Out

The new design will be applied to new products as they are introduced including; Benchtop instruments, PXI/AXIe modular products and chassis as well as components.  In addition, existing products will gradually adopt the standards, as inventory is depleted, in order to minimize scrap, which is in line with the company's dedication to environmental responsibility and is supported by Keysight's product take-back program.

The X-Series signal analyzers and NFA noise figure analyzers, and the U7227F USB preamplifiers are the first products available in the new design.

FAQs

Why did Keysight decide to change the product color from white to gray?
The new colors are consistent with the new Keysight color palette. Instruments and components in the new design are charcoal gray and other gray tones, accented with Keysight's signature red, white and black.

Will other new models become same color?
The X-Series signal analyzers and N8973/4/5/6B NFA noise figure analyzers are the first in a line of products that will be introduced with the new design. The new design will apply to our benchtop instruments, modular product and components.

Will the orange handheld products be in the new color scheme?
No, these products will not be changing. The vivid orange cases provide greater visibility for use in the environments that they are used in which is critical for our customers.

When will the new design be applied to other products?
The new design will be applied gradually over the next few years.  New products will be introduced with the new design and existing products will adopt the new design as inventory is depleted in order to minimize scrap, which is in line with the company's dedication to environmental responsibility.

Where can I get more information?
