SANTA ROSA, Calif., May 23, 2016

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) and Cascade Microtech (NASDAQ: CSCD) are celebrating 25 years of working together to help customers solve their toughest semiconductor R&D challenges. This collaboration resulted in significant on-wafer design and test innovations—helping customers accelerate their time-to-market.

Keysight's legacy includes the original Hewlett-Packard business, founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. Cascade Microtech was founded in 1983 by Eric Strid and Reed Gleason. In 1990, the companies began working together to build a product roadmap that resulted in significant technology breakthroughs. Now with over 100 years of combined semiconductor test experience, their joint innovations have impacted the way customers perform on-wafer research and design.

"Our decades-long association with Keysight Technologies has given us a unique opportunity to solve customer challenges," said Michael Burger, president and CEO, Cascade Microtech, Inc. "Through our early collaboration in the development cycle, we've been able to provide our customers truly innovative test solutions that improve measurement accuracy and deliver confident results."

Keysight-Cascade Microtech customer solutions highlights:

  • 1991: The HP/Keysight 4155 semiconductor parameter analyzer helped customers with low noise and leakage measurement performance. Customer feedback established a need for the extension of these measurements to the probe tips and wafer substrate. This spurred the development of the Cascade Microtech MicroChamber® technology and guarded chucks that allow sub-10fA current measurements on the probes and chuck terminals. This was the first time customers could see the true leakage currents of their transistors.
  • 1999: The 8510XF network analyzer systems supported the first broadband 110 GHz coaxial solution, providing customers with the best overall performance to meet their design and test challenges in millimeter-wave applications. The introduction of a coaxial broadband solution removed the need to measure the same device using three sets of instruments, probes, calibrations and measurements, and replaced it with a single broadband, single-sweep solution. This saved the customer time and money, while providing a seamless, more accurate measurement to the probe tip.
  • 2015: A turn-key wafer-level measurement solution for fast and accurate semiconductor on-wafer measurements that saves time and reduces customer risk with guaranteed system configuration, installation and support. Customers are assured there are no missing components. The pre-validated system delivers verified performance at the probe tip and enables faster time to first data.

"Over the past 25 years, our teamwork became an integral part for enabling customer success in device characterization and on-wafer measurements," said Gregg Peters, vice president and general manager at Keysight Technologies. "Today we celebrate our past successes and look forward to working together over the next 25 years to continue to help our customers accelerate their products' time-to-market."

The celebration will occur at the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS2016) on Keysight Avenue (between Keysight Booth 1239 and Cascade Microtech Booth 1439) on May 24 at 11 a.m. PT. Images are available at www.keysight.com/find/celebrate25_images.
