New iBypass DUO bypass switch offers two management ports, reduces downtime and lowers the cost of deployment for monitoring and visibility

SANTA ROSA, Calif., April 4, 2018

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers, and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, today announced iBypass DUO, the next generation bypass switch. iBypass DUO provides two management ports, as well as 10G and 1G support, which allows network security teams to switch inline security tools in and out of network without bringing down the network or creating a point of failure.

Today’s organizations face a myriad of network concerns including the increasing volume of multiprotocol traffic at higher data rates, mounting security threats, and a strict regulatory environment. Deploying inline security tools to inspect and control network traffic helps block incoming threats, but the same inline tools can complicate network operations and create potential points of failure. If an inline tool becomes unavailable, it can bring down the network link, significantly compromising network uptime and disrupting business continuity.

In addition to the providing two management ports and 10G and 1G support, iBypass DUO uniquely offers users:

  • the ability to fail "open" or fail "close" on the lack of power – so traffic either continues or fails to flow as the situation requires
  • easy active-standby deployments with two tool ports for every network port

Like Ixia’s greater bypass switch portfolio, the iBypass DUO:

  • leverages a drag-and drop GUI to make it easy to configure tools and reduce errors
  • supports active-active and active-standby configurations
  • has pre-defined security tool heartbeats, ensuring a rapid failover
  • has an external, stand-alone architecture which can facilitate multiple deployments, eliminating the architectural weaknesses of built-in bypass switches
