AresONE-400GE Named Best in Show Finalist at Interop Tokyo

SANTA ROSA, Calif., June 11, 2018

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers, and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, today announced that the company will demonstrate AresONE-400GE at Interop Toyko (booth 4Y16) to be held June 13-15 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. AresONE-400GE is the first high-density 8-port 400 gigbit Ethernet (GE) test system in a 2 rack-unit (RU) fixed chassis based on 56Gb/s electrical interface with PAM-4 encoded signaling.

The evolution to 400GE is progressing at an unprecedented pace. Companies working in the 400GE ecosystem require access to high-density, yet affordable test and validation solutions. At the same time, these companies need access to test equipment that can validate all Ethernet speed requirements, using less power in a compact form factor.

AresONE-400GE is designed to meet the high-port-count test needs of chip and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) manufacturers, network equipment manufacturers (NEMs), and hyperscale data center operators and carriers, and has been named a Best of Show Award Finalist 2018 at Interop Tokyo.

"Testing 400GE requires high-density, and until now it was difficult to achieve this without investing in racks of expensive power-hungry equipment that require hardware upgrades," said Sunil Kalidindi, vice president of product management at Keysight's Ixia Solutions Group. "Built on our industry-leading, proven K400 family of test solutions, AresONE-400GE is the first high-density 8-port 400GE fixed chassis test system with four times more ports per RU than any other solution. With multiple field upgrade options, it scales as needed, enabling customers to extend the life of their high-density 400GE test equipment and improve their return on investment."

Anticipating the release of 32-port or 36-port 400GE network devices, AresONE-400GE enables customers to test high-port-density devices such as routers, switches and servers for all Ethernet speeds, 200G/100G/50G, based on the IEEE802.3bs and IEEE802.3cd standards.

AresONE-400GE offers customers:

  • The broadest Layer 2/3 protocol coverage, scale and performance testing
  • Multi-rate Ethernet, with each of the 8-ports supporting 1x400GE and with a fan-out option for 2x200GE, 4x100GE, and 8x50GE speeds
  • Comprehensive RS-544 forward error correction (FEC) statistics and symbol error injection testing
  • Ability to synchronize up 5 AresONE-400GE units to instantly build up to 40-ports of 400GE in a single test bed in only 10RUs
  • Up to 50% less power consumption compared to traditional modular chassis and test load module form factors

AresONE-400GE is offered in 4 and 8-port models, as well as reduced performance to full performance versions ranging from simple packet blasting and RFC benchmark testing, to highly complex L2/3 network protocol emulation applications.

At Interop Tokyo, Ixia will showcase the new AresONE-400GE platform, using second generation alpha LR8 QSFP-DD optics from Source Photonics, running full 400GE line rate against its production-released K400 platform. Its remaining ports will feature full line rate traffic using various lengths of direct attached copper cables from multiple vendors. The new AresONE-400GE platform will showcase aggregate Ethernet traffic of 3.2Tbps.
